This time we speak with twenty-year-old Janko Pol\u00e1\u010dek, who spent several years as an actor in our ensemble Vos\u00ed hn\u00edzdo. He is now in his first year at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University.<\/p>\n

I perceive Janek as a person with a rich inner world\u2014a philosopher, creator, and poet, in whom creation, philosophy, psychology, science, and experimentation intersect. He is drawn to transcendence, allows things to mature, and says that existing in a state of not-knowing can be liberating for a human being. <\/p>\n

Interview: Dialogical Acting is a specific form of active imagination<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interview with Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Vladim\u00edr Chrz, Ph.D. from the Institute of Psychology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, psychologist, researcher, and educator.<\/p>\n

I met Vladim\u00edr at the Department of Authorial Creativity and Pedagogy at DAMU. We attended Ivan Vysko\u010dil\u2019s Dialogical Acting classes together\u2014he as a psychologist, me as a theatre maker and educator. Later, we happened to keep crossing paths again during meditation sessions in Kol\u00edn or at lectures with Tom\u00e1\u0161 Hal\u00edk in the crypt of the Church of St. Salvator. It felt as if life kept guiding us along similar routes.\n\nAt one point, we even considered creating therapeutic groups focused on authorial creativity. We are both deeply interested in how creativity and artistic making can heal the human soul\u2014its existential depth, the phenomenon of play and creation itself. What is it about play and creative action that is so essential and foundational that it awakens and transforms a person into a living, joyful, and creative being?\n\nPerhaps a human being simply experiences themselves as a creative and acting subject, with an infinite potential\u2014no longer a passive puppet of systems or a plaything of fate, but an active co-creator of the unfolding of the world.\n\nThis is why, in this June issue, we bring you an extended interview with psychologist, academic, educator, and a deeply curious and kind human being Vladim\u00edr Chrz, on the themes of images, dialogical acting, meditation, imagination, psychosomatics, and creation. <\/p>\n

Gelsomina in the World of Children \/ Pure Play<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen something is named, it most likely loses its magic,\u201d said Thomas Beachdel, an art historian.\n\nAnd because play itself is a kind of magic\u2014something that resists naming\u2014I have chosen not to define or label things pedagogically or otherwise in \u201cGelsomina in the World of Children.\u201d To leave play as play, in its exposed, pure, and purposeless form. In the present moment, in our lessons. Without explanations, without categories.\n\nGelsomina is my grotesque character from Fellini\u2019s film La Strada, into whom I sometimes transform among the children. And we play. Podle Junga je maska\/persona hra. Hra, kterou hrajeme p\u0159ed sv\u011btem, kter\u00e1 n\u00e1s m\u00e1 ukazovat v ur\u010dit\u00e9m sv\u011btle. Maska je pro \u010dlov\u011bka velmi d\u016fle\u017eit\u00e1, je jedna z na\u0161ich integr\u00e1ln\u00edch na\u0161eho \u201cj\u00e1\u201d a pom\u00e1h\u00e1 n\u00e1m fungovat ve spole\u010dnosti. \u010clov\u011bka by potom napadlo, \u017ee v divadle p\u016fjde maska nejv\u00edce do pop\u0159ed\u00ed. Divadlo je o tom ukazovat se sv\u011btu, a hlavn\u011b potom publiku, v ur\u010dit\u00e9m sv\u011btle. Ale paradoxem p\u0159i nasazen\u00ed divadeln\u00ed masky je jej\u00ed svoboda. Kdy jindy se m\u016f\u017eeme p\u0159evl\u00e9ci do nenositeln\u00fdch \u0161at\u016f a \u0159v\u00e1t, plakat, v\u00e1let se po zemi p\u0159ed s\u00e1lem pln\u00fdm lid\u00ed a v\u0161echny ty projevy jsou nejen dovolen\u00e9, ale i ocen\u011bn\u00e9 potleskem? From Erika: On Freedom, Remaining a Child Forever<\/strong><\/p>\n

If I did not \u201cteach\u201d children and young people freedom, I would rather not teach at all. It would not interest me. Teaching technical skills in behaviour, communication, and creation, or training toward a pleasing artistic expression, is not enough. It is uninteresting, insufficient, unnecessary, and potentially manipulative. It can lead to self-display without a real relationship to the audience. <\/p>\n

M\u016f\u017eeme nad t\u00edm neust\u00e1le p\u0159em\u00edtat, zkoumat v\u0161echny mo\u017enosti, radit se s ka\u017ed\u00fdm, kdo by n\u00e1s mohl popostr\u010dit jedn\u00edm nebo druh\u00fdm sm\u011brem, v noci se budit s bu\u0161\u00edc\u00edm srdcem, kter\u00e9 n\u00e1m ka\u017ed\u00fdm sv\u00fdm \u00faderem odpo\u010d\u00edt\u00e1v\u00e1 \u010das, kter\u00fd n\u00e1m zb\u00fdv\u00e1 k rozhodov\u00e1n\u00ed\u2026 Abychom se s jistotou rozhodli, museli bychom centimetr po centimetru proj\u00edt ka\u017edou ulici, p\u011b\u0161inu i stezku, zastavit se v ka\u017ed\u00e9 slep\u00e9 uli\u010dce a na rozcest\u00ed j\u00edt v\u0161emi sm\u011bry. Teprve pot\u00e9 bychom se mohli vr\u00e1tit na za\u010d\u00e1tek cesty a sebev\u011bdom\u011b se vydat tou trasou, kter\u00e1 je pro n\u00e1s nejlep\u0161\u00ed. Tolik \u010dasu v\u0161ak nikdo z n\u00e1s nem\u00e1. A tak nev\u00edme. A je kr\u00e1sn\u00e9 nev\u011bd\u011bt, v tom je kouzlo cestov\u00e1n\u00ed. D\u00edky nev\u011bd\u011bn\u00ed m\u016f\u017eeme objevovat, p\u0159ekvapovat, divit se a b\u00fdt zv\u011bdav\u00ed. Poj\u010fte s n\u00e1mi, \u010dten\u00e1\u0159i, putovat mezi odstavci po str\u00e1nk\u00e1ch Dialogu. Jakou cestou se vyd\u00e1me? Nev\u00edm. From Erika: Theme for authorial creation \u2014 I DON\u2019T KNOW<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I was looking for this year\u2019s theme for our authorial work in the groups, I wrote down about seventy possible topics on my home board. I liked all of them, and I couldn\u2019t decide which one to choose.\n\nThen, quite by chance, I came across the theme \u201cI DON\u2019T KNOW.\u201d It came from a Facebook post about Janusz Korczak, the Polish doctor and educator who chose to voluntarily go with the children from the orphanage where he worked to their death in the gas chamber in Treblinka.\n\nHe fascinated me. What kind of person was he? What led him to such an unimaginable act of generosity and sacrifice?<\/p>\n
